Wedding Hair Updos

You have spent a lot of time planning your wedding.  Everything has been arranged for the location of the ceremony and the reception.  Your wedding party has been fitted for their gowns and tuxedos, the caterer has been booked, the cake has been ordered, the invitations have been mailed, your honeymoon travel accommodations are arranged and now it’s time to think about YOU and how you will wear your hair.  Elegant wedding hair updos need to be thought about well in advance and planned for accordingly.

If you know how you want your hair styled it’s just a matter of talking to your stylist to make sure that he/she is comfortable doing your hair as you would like it to be for your special day.  Not all stylists are able to do elegant formal styles.  Let’s face it.  Some stylists do expert cuts while others have a flare for chemicals.  It takes a special breed of hairstylist to create an updo with the precision it needs for your wedding day.  It would be in your best interest to have a “practice do” well before the actual date.  Unfortunately, many brides choose their gown and veil without a clue as to how they are going to wear their hair.  If you have already purchased your veil, ultimately your wedding hair updo will have to be styled with the veil in mind.  When you go for your trial run, bring either your veil or a picture of it with you so your stylist can help you plan a style that can be worn with your particular headpiece.

There are many books available with a wide variety of pictures you could browse through.  You can go online as well to sites that are dedicated to hair updos for weddings and wedding hairstyle in general.  The best thing to do would be to plan your hairstyle well in advance of buying your veil, but if you have already put the cart before the horse, then please make sure you keep in mind how that veil is going to sit on your head.  There may come a point where you need to make a decision between a hairstyle that you ABSOLUTELY have to wear, or a veil that is irreplaceable.  Some veils just don’t lend themselves to wedding hairstyle updos so you may have to choose one or the other – hairstyle or veil.
