Hair and Makeup Styles

Once you findthe person who is going to do your wedding-day hair and makeup, you may think that you’re set. Well, you’re not. You can’t wait until the day of to discuss how you want to do your hair or what kind of makeup you’d like to wear. Think about it this way: how many dresses did you try on before you found the right one? Probably at least a handful.

You should approach your makeup styles and hairstyles the same way too. Here’s what I suggest: Once you narrow down your hair and makeup stylist to two or three choices, book a run-through with each. Allocate sufficient time for him or her to try out a few different hairstyles on you until you find the one you love.

Once you do find the perfect hairstyle and makeup, capture it with a Polaroid or digital camera. That way on the big day, you can bring out that photo from the run-through and your hairdresser will immediately remember the look you’re trying to achieve.  Expect to pay an extra fee for the hairstyling or makeup run-through session.

You’re booking the professional’s time outside of your wedding, and there’s a chance that you may not hire this person for the job and therefore will not be paying him or her at a later date for the wedding job.  After the run-through, decide which person you liked working with best and who made you look terrific. Then book that person for your wedding.
